TVO Partners with BIG to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions in the Vegetable Oil Industry Using Low-Carbon Nitrogen

11 March 2025

Thai Vegetable Oil Public Company Limited or TVO, producer of "Angoon" cooking oil, and BIG, a Climate Technology Company, are advancing their commitment to reducing carbon footprints in vegetable oil production through the implementation of low-carbon nitrogen, aiming to achieve TVO's carbon neutrality goal by 2045.

Collaboration for Sustainability

This partnership demonstrates both companies' commitment to sustainable business practices. TVO prioritizes
reducing greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain. By utilizing BIG's low-carbon nitrogen in its production process, TVO is not only reducing its corporate and product carbon footprint but also setting a new environmental standard for the food industry in Thailand. BIG's low-carbon nitrogen, certified by the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization), or TGO reduces carbon dioxide emissions by more than 50% compared to conventional nitrogen, effectively reducing Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions, which are indirect emissions from production processes.

TVO Aims for Sustainable Production

Mr. Pachai Chanpitaksa, Chief Executive Officer of Thai Vegetable Oil Public Company Limited said "At TVO,
we believe that climate change is not just a challenge but an opportunity to drive our business towards a sustainable future.”

TVO is committed to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across its entire value chain through a systematic approach
driven by innovation, technology, and data. The company has begun by assessing its carbon footprint using BIG’s platform, which enables accurate, transparent, and verifiable data collection. These insights allow TVO to identify opportunities to reduce carbon emissions both within its production processes and throughout the supply chain.

Furthermore, TVO prioritizes sustainable supply chain management by promoting the use of clean energy and
environmentally friendly raw materials. Currently, 85% of the energy used in production comes from renewable sources. Additionally, the adoption of low-carbon nitrogen from BIG marks a significant step in reducing indirect (Scope 3) greenhouse gas emissions.

Collaboration with business partners across the value chain is a key strategy that will help TVO achieve Carbon Neutrality by 2045 and Net Zero by 2060. The company is committed to advancing toward a
sustainable future while creating shared value for the industry and society as a whole.

BIG Drives a Low-Carbon Society

Mr. Piyabut Charuphen, Managing Director of BIG
said "As a leader in industrial gas innovation and a Climate Tech Company, BIG is committed to driving energy transition in Thai industries through our 'Generating a Cleaner Future' business strategy. We are not only reducing our own carbon emissions but also encouraging other industries to recognize the potential of climate technology, such as low-carbon nitrogen, in reducing their carbon footprints. This addresses the global climate change concerns and fosters a sustainable business ecosystem.

"Beyond providing low-carbon nitrogen to TVO, we have also implemented our Carbon Management Platform in TVO's facilities. This platform enables precise monitoring and management of greenhouse gas emissions, reducing the time required for data collection and analysis. These are significant steps in helping TVO achieve sustainable energy management and effectively reduce greenhouse gas emissions in their production processes."
